Swindon to launch online “Chip Builder” at Sensor + Test 2018.

Swindon Silicon Systems, a Sensata Technologies company, is exhibiting at Nuremberg’s Sensor + Test 2018 – for three days from June 26 to 28. You can find Swindon at booth 5/334.

At Sensor + Test, Swindon will give visitors the chance to be among the first to use IC Builder, the company’s new online tool that will help design engineers visualise their ASIC solution. In addition to launching IC Builder, Swindon Silicon experts will be available to discuss the many advantages of Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) and integrated MEMs sensor interface solutions, System on Chip (SoC) as well as System in Package (SiP) devices.

IC Builder

A growing number of companies across many sectors are realising the many advantages ASICs can offer and IC Builder is the ideal way to begin the process of implementing an ASIC solution for their application, according to Richard Mount, Sales and Marketing Director at Swindon Silicon Systems.

“There are several reasons for taking the ASIC route and high on the list is the ability to integrate high levels of functionality into a tiny package,” Mount adds. “Functions and capability will normally include such things as processing, memory, digital and analog conversion, sensing, filtering, amplifying, communication, protection, and power management,” says Mount.

Click by click, IC Builder allows the user to progressively add the functions required for their intelligent sensing application and the capability to see what the resulting package could look like.

Designers can add processors including ARM Cortex and Intel 8051, a choice of memory type – Flash, EEPROM, ADCs, DACs, low and band-pass filtering, sensors – including photodiode and temperature, frequency generators, RF and a choice of communication protocols. Designers can choose from several actuation device types including full bridge, gated drivers as well as low and high side drivers.

Global Leadership

A global leader in the design and manufacture of ASICs and MEMS for automotive tyre pressure monitoring systems (the company supplies to more than 50% of the market), Swindon Silicon Systems is also a key supplier of single package devices to the medical and industrial sectors. The company’s devices can be found in hearing aids, factory automation proximity sensors, rotary and linear encoders and multi-touch screen displays.

Sensata Technologies is one of the world’s leading suppliers of sensing, electrical protection, control and power management solutions with operations and business centres in 12 countries. Sensata’s products improve safety, efficiency, and comfort for millions of people every day in automotive, appliance, aircraft, industrial, military, heavy vehicle, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, data, telecommunications, recreational vehicle, and marine applications.
